Product Description

A urine neutralizer breaks down the proteins in urine, eliminates odours, leaves a citrus aroma which deters pets from using the same area again. Mrs Gleam’s urine neutralizer is also completely safe to use around your pets.

Cat and dog urine starts to smell like ammonia very quickly because urine contains nitrates, which are the essential building blocks of ammonia.

Ammonia is a pungent smell that lingers and is difficult to get rid of unless you take care of it as soon as possible. Incomplete cleaning may also attract pets back to the same soiled spot because they can still smell the urine odour.

To prevent repeat accidents in the home dogs should be walked regularly and cat litter boxes changed.

How to use Mrs Gleam’s pet urine neutralizer

For fresh soiling, blot excess urine before treating. For dried soiled areas simply spray offending area and leave for a few minutes. Blot off with paper towel. Pet urine left any where in the house other than in the litter box will leave a pungent ammonia-like smell – particularly if it is not cleaned-up immediately. The bacterium in the urine starts to decompose the longer the urine is left to dry. Cats and dogs use their urine to mark their territory so the smell needs to be strong and concentrated to ‘stick’ around for longer.

Pet urine is a concentrate of metabolic waste comprised of urea, creatine, uric acid, various detoxified substances, sodium chloride and other electrolytes. Your pets metabolism breaks down the protein in their food to produce the by-products known as urea, which is then excreted by the kidneys into urine. Urea converts into ammonia – giving off that recognisable pungent aroma! So to permanently remove the smell the area affected must be sprayed with a product which will break-down the protein.  Many pet owners try home-made remedies for cat urine neutralizers. While a combination of vinegar and baking soda is likely to remove stains from furniture, walls and floors it will only temporarily mask the smell.

A cat and dog urine neutralizer product makes use of a specific enzymatic reaction resulting in the hydrolysis of urea. Enzymes are proteins that speed up chemical reactions. The enzymes break up the urea into carbon dioxide and ammonia, which are gases that evaporate quickly – thus eliminating odours.
